    "My Art speaks volumes about Africans and Africans in the diaspora. Making each of my pieces connect with people and sending them hopeful messages and also heal them as they relate with my Art, in light of the circumstances surrounding them."

    "My practice is centered around creating artworks that communicate the modernity of Africanism, I intend to stimulate the beholder’s reasoning of the possible reality of combining African culture with assimilated foreign traditions without losing touch with who we are. I create a visualization of African youth, male and female, who while

I create a visualization of African youth, male and female, who while lusting after Western characteristics still maintain the identity of their heritage. An attitude I hope new generation Africans can imbibe in their desire to live up to the fashion and expectations of today’s fanciful society."

    "In recent times, I have been able to make people in my community realize that there is more to Art than what they know. So I have been able to enlighten them over time, creating studio sessions with children and adults."

    2018 World Bipolar Day Art Winner

     

    Popoola Nurudeen Olanyi, a Nigerian native, won three Best Painting awardes as he earned National and Higher National Degrees in Art at Yaba College of Technology and was named Best Painting/mixed media/drawing at the 2018 Life In My City Art Festival. He has exhibited at the Lasgidi Art and Cultural Festival, the Lagos Art and Fashion Exhibition, the United Nations Information Centre Art Exhibition, and other group exhibitions in Lagos as well as the Dakar Biennale in Senegal in 2022. Popoola has competed in annual city art competitions, the World AIDS Day Art Competition, and the World Bipolar Day Art Competition, which he won in 2018.
