I'm a deeply philosophical individual, constantly seeking meaning in life beyond the ordinary realm. I find inspiration in various aspects of life, whether it's cultural diversity, scientific wonders, or everyday emotions. My art becomes a canvas through which I explore and express these profound thoughts and connections, weaving them into the very fabric of my creations. Each piece I craft carries a piece of this philosophy, inviting viewers to ponder the depths of existence with me. 

My focus is solely on ceramics, encompassing every facet of this intricate and versatile field. From the delicate artistry of crafting pottery pieces to the industrial and architectural dimensions, I delve into the entirety of ceramics. This broad expertise allows me to draw inspiration from various techniques and applications within the field, enriching my artistic creations. Whether I'm shaping a delicate vase or conceptualizing a large-scale architectural ceramic project, my major provides me with a comprehensive understanding that deeply influences and enriches my artistry. 

My art is intricately intertwined with the rich tapestry of the African Diaspora, particularly rooted in the profound heritage of the Yoruba culture. Within this deep cultural connection, I perceive art not just as a medium but as an essence that permeates everything. Through my philosophical lens, I seek to convey profound messages that resonate deeply with the soul.  In our everyday surroundings, both living and man-made, I discern a myriad of emotions, histories, and stories waiting to be told. By infusing these narratives into my art, I aim to heal the soul. Art, to me, is a vessel of healing, a transformative force that can mend wounds, bridge divides, and evoke profound emotions. I believe in the power of art to act as a mirror reflecting our shared humanity and as a balm that soothes the complexities of life in the African Diaspora. Through my creations, I aspire to invoke a sense of healing, unity, and understanding, fostering a connection between the past, the present, and the future, transcending cultural boundaries and fostering a collective healing experience.

Idris Olabode of Nigeria has a National Diploma in General Art & Design and a Higher National

Diploma in Industrial Design (Ceramics) from YABA College of Technology. He is a ceramic

artist skilled in both wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques. In addition to participating in

local art exhibitions, he creates custom ceramic pieces and teaches pottery techniques to

beginners and advances students in classes and workshops. Idris focuses on the therapeutic

benefits of pottery as well as its unique and meaningful beauty.

While my contributions may seem modest, I've been dedicated to teaching others the art of pottery and clay work. It's my way of giving back to the community. By sharing my knowledge and skills, I enable individuals to experience the therapeutic benefits that working with clay and pottery can bring to their lives. Through these teachings, I hope to inspire creativity, foster a sense of community, and provide a therapeutic outlet for those seeking solace and expression. It's my small way of enriching lives through the transformative power of art.
